VidSnag collects nothing. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. The desktop app does not phone home, does not log the links you paste, and does not upload your files or activity anywhere. Everything happens on your own computer.
The website (vidsnag.xyz)
This site is static pages served over HTTPS. It uses no analytics, no advertising scripts, no cookies, and no fingerprinting. Web fonts load from Google Fonts and the host (Vercel) keeps standard server access logs, which is normal for any website and is not tied to any profile we keep. We do not run a tracking pixel and we do not build any record of who visits.
The app (VidSnag.exe)
The download happens entirely on your machine. The app talks only to the sites you ask it to download from (through the yt-dlp engine) and, for previews, to fetch a video's thumbnail and title. It does not send your links, your downloads, or any usage data to us or anyone else. There is no account, no login, and no telemetry. You can confirm all of this yourself because the full source is public on GitHub.
Donations
If you choose to donate, that happens through a third-party payment or crypto service under its own privacy terms. We never see card numbers or wallet credentials, and donating is entirely optional.
Distribution
The only official place to download VidSnag is this site and the linked GitHub Releases page, where each build has a published SHA-256 checksum so you can verify the file is genuine.
